Gifts4locals and the Gift Card Industry

With the NSW Government set to introduce legislation into State Parliament regarding expiry dates we thought we would point out the many benefits of Gifts4locals for both consumer and retailer.

Gifts4locals is a platform where consumers can purchase a “clickgift” from a registered business.

After much research into the industry gifts4locals was launched in November 2015 to service the Griffith NSW community. Our platform is a game changer in the industry and addresses many of the concerns recently raised in the media.

EXPIRY DATE   2 years (to change with legislation), with recipient and or purchaser being notified prior to expiry. If recipient does not want to redeem then value can be donated to charity (eliminating the $60 million a year across NSW that retailers retain for unredeemed gift cards)

CHOSEN STORE GOES INTO LIQUIDATION   When gifts4locals becomes aware of a registered store going into liquidation or closing we contact recipient and / or purchaser and allocate voucher to another registered gifts4locals store

LIABILITY IN RETAILERS BOOKS  Where businesses carry the value of gift cards as an unsecured liability in their books gifts4locals eliminates this. Our research recognised this as a problem for small business. Funds are transferred to retailer upon notification of redemption.

NOT JUST MULTINATIONALS  Australians spend $2.5 Billion a year on gift cards, gifts4locals is a platform that allows the smaller family run businesses to join with the multinationals
